Iwao Washizu
Iwao Washizu is a event-exclusive character. He was added in the 2021 Akagi: The Genius Who Descended into the Darkness collaboration event.
Biography
With absolute power and endless wealth, Iwao Washizu is the underground lord of Japan, controlling it from the shadows. With incredible luck, he always gets away from dangerous situations on the Mahjong table. The despair of old age and death has gradually driven him to madness. As a result, he plays Mahjong using blood drown as chips against younglings to watch their suffering and play with their life. One day, a new player appeared before him: young genius Mahjong player, Shigeru Akagi.

Trivia
- The name Iwao means "rock" (巌).
- Iwao's surname Washizu means "eagle" (鷲) (washi) and "nest, den, beehive, aerie, cobweb, rookery, breeding place, haunt" (巣) (su/zu).
- Iwao Washizu is the namesake for Washizu Mahjong. In Washizu Mahjong, glass tiles replace most of the tiles, making a large portion of each player's hand visible to the other players.
